Dr. Amanda Claassen is a Registered Dietitian and holds a Doctoral degree in Exercise Science. She is an expert consultant in nutrition, sports nutrition, fitness, health promotion and wellbeing. Highlights of her nutrition & exercise science consulting experience involves working with elite-level sportsmen and women from all walks of life, including National Paralympic team, Western Province and Springbok Rugby, Protea National Cricket team, AJAX Cape Town soccer, WP teams from various sporting codes and backgrounds. She is equally passionate about applying her expertise to the benefit of the general person on the street and does so mainly through her current position as Head of Science & Innovation at Virgin Life Care / myvirginactive.

Amanda is a regular speaker at seminars across South Africa and has been on many national television and radio programs. She has also presented at various international conferences. She is Chair of ADSA-Sports Nutrition Working Group, member of the International Society for Behavioral Nutrition & Physical Activity and member of the American College of Sports Medicine. She remains actively involved with academic research and lecturing and holds various publications in local and international peer-reviewed scientific journals. Disseminating the latest in science and innovation to the practical benefit of the man on the street is one of her key passions, and her blog is one vehicle for doing so.
